ABOUT THE COMPANY


Volkswagen Group Africa is committed to addressing the skills shortage in our country and supports the skills development of our youth. We are therefore offering a limited number of comprehensive bursaries to qualifying candidates, studying towards a qualification at a formal accredited tertiary institution in South Africa

About The Bursary


This Bursary is for the 2027 academic year. You need to be studying full-time in 2026 to qualify. 

What will the Bursary include?

  1. Fees – Registration/Tuition, accommodation, meals, books and stationery;
  2. Vacation work;
  3. Mentoring and development;
  4. Additional study support where regarded appropriate;
  5. Laptop provided for study purposes. 

 

OBLIGATIONS

Terms and Conditions apply. Successful applicants will be required to sign an agreement with VWGA detailing the bursar’s obligations under the bursary, which includes a work-back employment period at VWGA. Please note should you be successfully selected to be awarded a 2027 bursary, you will need to provide your final latest transcript and proof of registration for 2027.

Any applicant or awardee later revealed to not be studying full-time or having paid employment, will have their bursary contract/offer terminated and will be required to refund all benefits paid to them by the bursary. 

Should you not have heard back from us within three months of the bursary closing, please consider your application as unsuccessful.

 

Who Can Apply


The bursary programme will be aimed at South African born candidates who meet the following criteria:

  1. Registration as a full-time 2nd – 4th year only
  2. All students registered for full-time studies at any DHET/CHE accredited tertiary Institution, in 2027
  3. This opportunity is NOT OPEN TO Masters/Doctoral students
  4. South African born Citizen
  5. Students registering/registered as 2027 full time undergrad students may apply in the following fields of study
    • Mechatronics / Mechanical Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Industrial Engineering
    • Digital Marketing 
    • Business Admin in Logistics and Supply Chain/ Production Management/ Operations Management 
    • Information Technology/ Systems or BSC Data Science or BSc Computer Science with data science major
    • BCom Informatics with Data Analytics/ BSc Statistics and Computer Science/ BSc Mathematical Systems/ BSc Informatics/ BCom Business Analysis/ BSc Information Technology with Business Security/ Bachelor of Information Technology (Networks)/ BSc Computer Networks/ BSc Information Networking/ Cyber Security specialisation/ Information Technology with Systems, AI or machine learning
  6. Finance / BCom Finance / Bachelor of Accounting Science
  7. BCom Economics / International Relations / Business Administration

Academic performance:

  1. Grade 12: Bachelor’s Pass with a minimum average of 70% 
  2. Tertiary level: A minimum average of 65% 
  3. Depending on application stage, candidates may be required to undergo screening, shortlisting, interview, and psychometric assessments.
  4. Preference will be given to applicants from Designated Groups, in line with VWGA’s Transformation objectives and Employment Equity Plan.

    • 2027 VWGA (Full Time Students) will be allocated for the 2027 academic year

This Bursary is for the 2027 academic year. You need to be studying full-time in 2027 to qualify.

Required Documents


Please prepare the following documents:

    Important Note About Documents:  

  • All certified documents must be less than 3 months old.

    1. Certified copy of a valid South African identity document. 
    2. A motivation letter detailing why you would like to be part of VWGA’s Bursary Programme.
    3. Recent certified Parents/Guardian SA ID or Death Certificate [*]
    4. A comprehensive CV.
    5. Completed online application form

     

    Undergrad Student (in 2026 & prior)

    1. Certified Full Tertiary Academic Records (for all years of tertiary study, even if at multiple institutions) [*] [or police affidavit stating why you were not schooling]
    2. Certified copy of latest/June 2026 Official Academic Transcripts (or official institution report) [or police affidavit stating why you were not schooling]
    3. Certified copy of valid matric certificate (Grade 12) 
    4. 2026 Official University Fee Statements- If you have off-campus accommodation, please include your lease agreement [*] 
    5. Certified Copy of 2026 Proof of Registration (if studying in 2026)  [or police affidavit stating why you were not schooling]

     

    Other Optional Documents (for all applicants): 

    1. IF APPLICABLE- Did you get funded by another bursary/NSFAS?; upload your bursary agreement/letter/offer [*] 
    2. IF APPLICABLE- If Applicant is disabled? Submit Dept. of Labour Employment Equity Act (EEA1) Form AND a Diagnosis Letter by Doctor [*]   
    3. IF APPLICABLE- A copy of 2027 acceptance letter from an accredited institution. - An official letter showing acceptance (even provisionally) to study the qualification in 2027 [*] 

     

    If Applicants are Shortlisted to Provisional-Acceptance

    1. Certified copy of valid matric certificate (Grade 12) and a certified copy of the latest Official academic transcript
    2. 2027 Proof of Registration at institution (NB: The bursary will only be awarded after you have registered, so please make sure you have the funds to register at the beginning of the year. This will be 1 of the conditions of your provisional acceptance) 

For applicants under the age of 18, to comply with POPI regulations a signed consent form completed by your parent/legal guardian along with a certified copy of their proof of identity is required.
